Filing for an order of protection process time goes from three weeks down to one
Domestic violence advocates say people filing for an order of protection often need urgency to get away from a dangerous situation, but for decades, on average in Arizona, it would take 23 days to get one completed.
New findings from the Arizona Criminal Justice department (ACJD) shows now, 70% of filings are done in just one week.The improved turnover time is credited to the AZPoint system, a website that allows people to file for an order of protection online instead of through paperwork.
According to the ACJD, AZ Point was adopted two years ago and in 2020, 7,000 more people filed for an order of protection online instead of face to face.
