Representative Carter Introduces Legislation to Protect Arizonans from Discrimination Based on Immunization Status

20220119-030504whatdoyouthink

State Representative Neal Carter (R-8) has introduced HB 2452, legislation that would make it illegal to discriminate against any person based on their vaccination status. The bill amends Arizona's laws to include protection against discrimination in employment, housing, or public accommodations based upon whether a person has or has not received one or more doses of a vaccine.

"At this time when our nation is facing a critical hiring and employee shortage, it doesn't make sense to further restrict the labor market through imposition of mandatory medical procedures as a condition of employment," said Representative Carter. "Moreover, the idea that a mandatory
medical procedure should be a requirement of continued employment is offensive to freedom of conscience, economic security, and medical integrity. No person should be forced to choose between putting food on the table and the integrity of his or her body."

HB 2452 is cosponsored by Representatives Biasiucci, Blackman, Bolick, Chaplik, Diaz, Dunn, Fillmore, Finchem, Kavanagh, Martinez, Nguyen, Parker, and Wilmeth.

Neal Carter is a Republican member of the Arizona House of Representatives serving Legislative District
8, which includes areas of Pinal and Gila Counties.
